On May 5, the State Tourism Agency presented the Tourism Information System (data.tourism.gov.az), which will play the role of a unified tourism platform for the country.

At the event, the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, Fuad Naghiyev, made a video appeal to the participants of the meeting.

In his appeal, Fuad Naghiyev said that in recent years, a number of important measures have been taken to regulate the industry and prepare working mechanisms. He noted that the main policy of the Agency in this direction is aimed at the formation of a reliable and specialized tourism industry based on the principles of healthy competition and service quality.

The head of the agency pointed out that the successful implementation of the project will allow obtaining accurate and clear records of tourism industry subjects in the country, as well as conducting a rating assessment according to the level of services provided, and the Tourism Information System will create an opportunity to establish a more reliable relationship with industry subjects, consumers and business partners.

The Tourism Information System, being a state information system, acts as a "state-business" and "business-business" digital partnership platform. The main goal of the system is to increase the competitiveness of the tourism sector, collect and transmit accurate and reliable information about the tourism industry and resources, promote the quality of tourism services provided in the country, and support the branding process and corporate development of business entities. The Tourism Register and a special quality program are conducted, a data storage is created and electronic services are provided.

It was pointed out that, the detailed information was also provided about the Tourism Register within the Tourism Information System, the register was formed in order to collect, process, search, analyze and transmit information about tourism resources, tourism products and tourism industry subjects in a single source, monitor that information, and improve the quality of tourism products and services.

In particular, the participants were informed that the industrial entities registered from the Tourism Registry would be classified in the next stage and would be involved in the special Tourism Quality Program.

The Tourism Quality Program covers the assessment of compliance with the principles of quality service, digitization and openness of the tourism industry entities registered and classified in the Tourism Registry. As a result of the evaluation, tourism industry subjects are presented with distinctive quality marks of "Open service", "Quality service" and "Digital service" in categories "B" and "A". The quality marks provide industry representatives with the opportunity to gain a reputation as a quality service provider, use this factor in the branding process and take advantage of promotional benefits such as promoting business services. The Information System will also contribute to consumers making more informed choices and benefiting from the services of reliable tourism industry entities.

More than 100 industry representatives, including representatives of travel agencies and hotels, as well as tour guides participated in the presentation. The questions of the representatives of the tourism industry about the Tourism Information System were answered at the end.
